Arriving by Air

The Institute is near Aberdeen Airport. Scheduled flights arrive there from London (Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Stansted), Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Belfast, Cardiff, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle, Humberside, Southampton, Norwich, Leeds/Bradford and several other UK airports and directly from Paris (Charles de Gaulle), Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Esbjerg, Bergen and Stavanger. Taxis are available at the Airport and it is a five minute journey to the Institute
.

Arriving by Train

Aberdeen station is ten kilometers from the Institute. Regular trains arrive from London Kings Cross, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness. From the station, take a taxi or bus (see below) to the Institute: the journey takes 20 - 30 minutes.
Dyce station is nearer the Institute but it is not a main station.

Arriving by Car

If travelling from the south, take the A90 north from Dundee. Arriving in Aberdeen take the A947 ring-road signposted to Inverness and the Airport. Leave Aberdeen on the A96 Inverness road. One kilometre after the second roundabout turn left at a road signposted to the Institute (at this point, the Institute is on the other side of the dual carriageway). Turn left again into the Institute grounds, go under the A96 and turn right at a mini-roundabout signposted to Reception.
The journey from Edinburgh or Glasgow takes about three hours, and, from Dundee, just over one hour.
If you miss the turn off the A96 then go to the next roundabout (where the airport is signposted as a right turn) and double back towards Aberdeen on the A96. The first left turn takes you to the Institute. This route can also be used coming from Inverness on the A96.

Arriving by Bus

Stagecoach Bluebird service 307 (Aberdeen to Inverurie) runs every 20 minutes during the day and goes from Aberdeen Station past the Institute. Services 10 (to Inverness) and 220 (to Alford) take the same route but run less frequently. Stagecoach timetable
The First Aberdeen service 27 is the Airport service which runs roughly once an hour and takes a somewhat longer route from Aberdeen Station past the Institute. The timetable is on the First Aberdeen web site.
For all these buses you should tell the driver you want to get to the Rowett and should ring the bell (to remind him!) in time to stop. When returning, you should hail the bus to make sure it stops for you.
