 Analytical Facilities - Genomics Section

  Head of Section: Gillian Campbell

Genomics Group

Genomics

The Rowett genomics facility was established in 2001-2 to support the increasing use of molecular biology techniques across many of the institute’s research programmes. Large scale processing and high throughput analyses have enhanced the level of data generated.

The main services used are DNA sequencing, micro-array and RNA analysis but many other techniques are available and the three members of genomics’ staff will endeavour to accommodate one-off requests and adapt methods to meet researchers’ requirements.

High throughput molecular biology techniques:

• DNA sequencing
• SNP analysis
• PCR
• DNA and RNA analysis
• Real-time PCR
• Micro- and macro- array spotting
• Micro-array hybridisation and analysis
• Colony picking
• Mini plasmid preps
• Robotic liquid handling
