What about the genes involved?
As everyone knows, the importance of genes in determining how organs work cannot be understated. We know about some of the genes involved in iron, but not all, so we will use different techniques to identify new genes which will be important. The role these genes play will then be identified using the approaches described above.

Who cares?
Anyone who has to prescribe iron, especially to pregnant women. Anyone who wants to take iron supplements and anyone who is manufacturing iron supplements. The legislators will find the data particularly valuable, because they will be able to know, with some degree of confidence, how much is enough and how much is too much. And, of course, the babies will care too.
