Public Health Nutrition Group

The group was formed in 2005 to expand the Institute's population-based research in nutrition.

Our current research aims to

1. To describe the diet of the Scottish population with particular reference to differences between sub-groups of the population based on age, sex and socio-economic status
2. To develop and validate tools for the assessment of diet and physical activity in for large-scale population-based studies
3. To investigate relationships between dietary intake and vascular and metabolic health
4. To explore genetic influences on nutritional status and the interactions between diet and genotype in relation to vascular and metabolic health
5. To design and evaluate community-based nutrition interventions
